Republican John McCain carried Tennessee and its 11 electoral votes in the presidential race against Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday, the first time since 1960 that the state hasn't backed the national winner. Student court approved, VP seeks to expand its power

Students can now have their day in court - UTM's student court. The SGA Senate recently approved the six-person branch of UTM's student government. Jennie Brooks, a senior Political Science major, was appointed chief justice. Brooks then appointed the five positions that make up the student court: Rebecca Hinds to attorney general, Brandon Burke to student defender and Daniel Burke, Heather Grossner and John Pickle to the three associate justice positions.… Post the First Comment

Four from UTM Women's Basketball team issued citations for theft of vending machine contents

Four players of the UTM Women's Basketball team were issued citations last Tuesday for misdemeanor vandalism of a vending machine on the "G" side of Browning Hall. According to an incident report issued by the Department of Public safety, Alishia Glover, Maryam Kirk, Phyllisha Mitchell and Sequoia Forney confessed to handling a vending machine so that it caused four drinks to fall out and then removed the drinks.… Post the First Comment

Kappa Alphas cited for resisiting arrest

Four members of Kappa Alpha Order, one of which is an appointed official of the Interfraternity Council (IFC), were arrested by the Weakley County Sheriff's Office last Thursday night at the fraternity's residence during a party. According to the police report Ryan Blake, James Duffer, Joshua Doyle and Zachary Burton turned the corner onto Oakland Street while driving and almost struck Officer Joshua Roger's patrol car.… 26 Comments
